Introduction

HalalCheck ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application and website. The app has no accounts, so we never ask for your name, email or phone number.

Data We Collect

• Scanned photos and label text: When you scan a product, the photo or the text read from it is sent to our server for analysis. Photos are processed and not stored. The label text and the result may be cached so that future scans of the same product are faster.
• Location for prayer times: If you allow location access, your device's coordinates are sent to our server to calculate prayer times and show your city name. Our server passes the coordinates, without any identifier, to the prayer-time service Aladhan and to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim. The Qibla direction is calculated on your device; the Qibla map loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap for the area shown.
• Usage and diagnostics: App events (for example screens opened, scans and their results, E-number searches, and whether a Pro purchase succeeded), crash reports, device model, operating system and app version. They are linked to a random installation ID, not to you personally. Your country is derived from your IP address.
• Purchases: The Pro subscription is handled by Apple and Google. We never receive your payment details.

• Name, email address or phone number
• Contacts, messages or social profiles
• Payment or card details

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Microsoft Azure (Application Insights and Azure AI): Stores usage and crash data, and reads label photos and text to produce the analysis.
• Google AdMob: Shows ads. AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, approximate location from your IP address, ad interactions and diagnostics, for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland we ask for your consent first, and on iOS ads are personalised only if you allow tracking. You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in your device settings.
• Aladhan and OpenStreetMap: Prayer time calculation, city names and map tiles.
• YouTube: The live streams from Makkah and Madinah play in an embedded YouTube player, which follows Google's privacy policy.

Your Choices

• You can deny location access; prayer times then do not use your location.
• You can change ad consent and personalised ads in the app's consent dialog or your device settings.
• Deleting the app removes its installation ID, so earlier data can no longer be linked to your device. Usage and crash data is deleted automatically after a limited retention period. To ask for deletion sooner, email us.

Data Security

We use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission. Usage data is stored securely in Microsoft Azure data centers.

Children's Privacy

Our app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when it was last revised.
